My Top Chairlift Snacks

As someone who loves spending as much time as they can on the mountain, having snacks is key to keep the energy following. I also just love snacks and don’t really go anywhere without one. You might say my biggest fear is being hungry and not having any food. Over the years I have carried many different snacks with me on the hill so here are some of my favourites.
Pocket sandwich
This is a classic and you cannot go wrong with this. Just be prepared it might become a squished sandwich depending on the pockets you have. I personally don’t have a go to sandwich and just use what I have that day. Sometimes it easy like a peanut butter and jam or others it will be a grilled cheese. Literally anything that can go between bread makes a good pocket sandwich.
Pickles
Hear me out, this one is the best and never fails to start a conversation in the lift. Pickles are great because they are juicy and have some electrolytes in them. Cold pickles are the best too so you don’t have to worry about the pickles freezing. Frozen pickles are pretty great too. Sometimes I will add some cheese in the baggy with the pickles to make the snack a little denser.
Nerd Gummy Clusters
These are my current favourite candy and sometimes you need the sugar to get you through the long ski days. I will buy the large bag and then put some in a small Ziploc. If I have the mini Nerd Gummy Cluster packs I will have one of those in my pocket. I honestly just love these at the moment and skiing all day is the perfect excuse to eat candy.
Frozen Granola Bar
Emphasis on the frozen part. For some reason no matter the temperature my granola bar is always frozen. This is just such an easy snack to grab without having to think too much. Sometimes this granola bar will be in my jacket for a while before I need it. Just be careful biting into this one because they last thing you want is to have to explain how you lost a tooth skiing and having to tell people it happened on the chairlift biting into a granola bar.
Chocolate covered nuts
I discovered this chairlift snack last season when my parents were visiting. My mom gave me a pack of chocolate covered peanuts. I decided they would go in my jacket pocket and they became such a good snack I bought a big container of them and would have chocolate covered nuts almost every day. This one is great since you are getting some protein and sugar at the same time.
The other half of my quesadilla
Before you ask any questions, I did have a quesadilla for breakfast and had some left and needed a ski snack so I packed it up and ended up eating it mid ski day. A quesadilla is great because it is flat so it fits well in pretty much any pocket. The best thing to do when you’re making this quesadilla is to add salsa inside so you have some flavour in your snack.
I cannot wait to see what ski snacks I discover this season! From what I learnt so far anything that can fit in your pocket will probably make a great chairlift snack, plus food always tastes better on the mountain. A little tip is to not put anything valuable in the same pocket as your snacks because the last thing you want is your phone falling out on the lift while you are pulling out your snack. Happy snacking :)
